Rolex 24 afterthoughts

WOW, what an exciting event to shoot. My only disappointment was with myself, and not feeling well at the end of the first day, and sleeping through the entire night, thus not taking any night shots... But the time I spent shooting on both days was fun, and a learning exerience. I have loaded all of my images into lightroom, now I just need to process them, delete the complete duds, etc... I hope to go through a good amount tonight, if I don't fall asleep too early, as I am completely drained and exhausted. I will post some as I go through them, so that it doesn't build up and take me a month to get them up here.

Rolex 24: Building up the anticipation

Camilo and I are shooting the Rolex 24 this weekend. For those of you that aren't race fans, or just don't watch SPEED TV, the Rolex 24 is a 24hr car race at Daytona International Speedway (Daytona, FL). We have rented a HUGE telephoto lens, the 400mm 2.8 We will be sharing it, trying to get some amazing shots to build our portfolios with. BUT, I have an underlying motive... CUE EVIL SOUNDING MUSIC...

PATRICK DEMPSEY is driving in this race!!! Yes, he's Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy", and wooed all our hearts in "Can't Buy Me Love", but he's also a car driver for the Hyper Sport Team. So I'm making it my mission to focus on that team, and somehow schmooze my way to meeting him! This would be the highlight of the event. I've already apologized to Camilo in advance, for him having to put up with me, while I act all Paparazzo, stalking one of the most beautiful men on earth... Because really? What woman WOULDN'T love to meet this man?

ISOfifty vs Kitty Hawk, NC

As most people that read this know me, you know I'm part of a group of photographers. ISOfifty was started by a good friend of mine from high school, even though in high school, neither of us knew about each others love for photography. Well, Paul now works for NASA, but when he was at UCF he founded this with Camilo, and it grew from there. You can view our website at www.isofifty.com

In October of 2007, about half of the group managed to get off of our everyday jobs, and meet up in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. We rented some nice lenses, and some strobe lighting, and just shot for 10 days. 4 of us even got to do a shoot for the REAL Kiteboarding School, where we got daring, and took the lighting on the boat. These images are a small representation of what I shot while up there.

The following three images are from the REAL kiteboarding shoot... I took the first setup shot ON the boat (and the image of the kiteboarder, of course), while the image of the boat from the water was taken by Paul Gardner ( www.paulbgardner.com ).

This has been an adventure

I apologize for not updating. I started this web/photo blog with a good intention, and I have let it slack do to my busy schedule. No more! I have graduated, and have a little more time thatn I used to, so I will be making some large updates over the next couple of evenings. I have yet to post my pictures from the Kitty Hawk trip with the ISOfifty guys, but if you just can't wait, go to www.isofifty.com to see some of our adventures! I also was booked for a wedding in April, for the cousin of one of my longest and best friends, Jason. I shot a small wedding just over a week ago, and will post those images as well!
